In the weeks preceding Prabakar Visvanath's abishekam ritual
at MOA, museum
staff negotiated with one another the purpose and consequences of carrying
out this ritual for the conservation of the bronze Vishnu figure. Curator
Karen Duffek compiled excerpts of the email correspondence between
herself, Anthony Shelton (MOA director), Heidi Sweirenga (MOA
conservator), and Stephen Inglis (consulting curator), in order to
symbolize the institutional "back story" behind the ritual.
